Understanding Really Simple Syndication (RSS)

Another additional way to promote your content is by Really Simple Syndication (RSS). This is when content is shared to other websites right after they have been summarized. It lets people subscribe to these RSS feeds to have content delivered to them automatically without them even having to go on the actual website. Think of it as subscribing to a magazine or newspaper. It will be delivered to your e-mail inbox monthly, or weekly, whenever the content is updated. Pretty darn neat, right?!

What you basically do is create a profile with a certain feed directory then submit content in the form of the RSS feed in the XML format to a directory that may include URLs, tags and titles. See the thing is, when people visit a directory, they can browse by categories. If they happen to find a feed that looks appealing to then, they can subscribe, comment for chose to see additional feeds under their profile.

The advantages for SEO when it comes to RSS are much more than what people may believe.  It is considered one of the easiest SEO tactics out there. What needs to be understood is that search engine websites only allow at least two results per keyword on their page. So, in order to get more links in the search engines, you need to combine your social networking sites, and press releases and any other website you may have that advertises your product.  This way, you are essentially getting way more backlinks and being displayed more on Google. As you should know, backlinks are very important because these links will go directly to your “money site,” which essentially is your whole point.
